How to read and enjoy the Bible

What can we do to read the Bible and actually enjoy it? This can be very hard for many of us. Yet, the Bible is the most widely printed and read book in the world. Did you know that the Bible is quoted more often than any other piece of literature in history and has had more influence on our language, culture and laws than any other book or idea ever published? Yet, most people seldom, if at all will ever, actually read the Bible, including Christians! Why?

About all those Different Bible Versions, and Translations

What about all those different Bible Translations, how do I know what ones are accurate and best for me? Which one is for what? We will go over each major translation, and give you a chart to show you the contrasts. Remember the Bible was written in Hebrew for most of the Old Testament and in Greek for the New Testament. There are always many ways to translate a different language.

God is a God who gives us grace, comfort, and rest.  Yet, all too often we forget His holiness, righteousness, and right to judge.  We forget that we are responsible for our spiritual growth, relationships, and actions.  Many of us will go on with our daily lives without any forethought of how God is at work in us and others or our consequences or opportunities. Yes, our God is a God of Grace. He wants you and to hear from you!

The simple solution to know the Bible better, is to take some time each day and read the Bible. See our "Bible Reading Plans" channel for helps on this.  Bible Reading Plans

How To Lead Bible Studies

Those who hear us preach ought to be able to go back to the Scriptures, Berean like (Acts 17:11), tracing the same truth we have brought out from them, and see that what has been preached is not only true in general, but truth drawn from the preaching portion we have used.

Session 21: Ruth

We must realize that our being one will take looking to the Lord for help. There will be problems of coordination which must be worked out with patience, with being servants to each other. This will not happen automatically. It will take conscious thought, prayer, and a realistic love not to let our egotisms spoil that which God has given us. I would just say to you there are going to be months, there are going to be times, that you are consciously going to have to realize that there are things that have be worked out in love, and it is imperative that as these things are worked out that the things of personal egotism and personal preference which is not principle would not spoil that which God has given us.

Sin is missing the mark that our Lord has for us. Sin is a violation against God and His people. It was a Greek archery term.

Church Leadership

This emergent or postmodern or Emerging Church is fairly new as a movement, yet is has shadows all through church history as everything has been new at one point including the Church itself. Perhaps this emergent church is a spinoff of the "Jesus Movement" in the 70's, an inspirational application of Schaffer's influence, a journey to new things in order to catch others for the faith
