Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalm 119:105

Why Study The Bible

Is the Bible Important?

Have you ever wondered why we should study the Bible?

Or what the Bible's influence has been on you, personally, whether you read it daily or not at all? What about others around you? Have you considered the Bible's relevance and importance in the shaping of Western society and culture? The fact is, the Bible has sold more copies than all other books in history and has shaped the hands that built this country, the United States of America. Even in the days of eroding family values, and an academic and political backlash to remove the Bible and its relevance, the fact is the Bible is the most important document and influence in Western culture. It has been more influential than the U.S. Constitution, the Magna Carta or any philosophical or political idea. The Bible is so important it has influenced much we take for granted in the world from science, technology, and even our political system! And...

If we know why the Bible is important, then we can study the Bible more effectively!

We have the incredible privilege to here and know God personally through His Word!

The Bible is our principle platform for our encounters with the Almighty Who has something precious to say to us, and we must hear it excitedly! We are to get into God's Word because it is the framework of the Living God. His principles, calls, and plans for us to know, grow, prosper in our lives and churches are in its pages. We must do our best to immerse ourselves to meet Him, to know Him, to internalize His precepts and live them out for His glory and our mutual benefit. Therefore, we must listen, learn, and do ...

Why Should we Listen to the Bible?

The Authority of the Bible

It is when we are comfortable and complacent that our lack of willingness clouds us from growing in our Lord. The problem is our neglect, not the Bible!

The Study of the Bible Matters!

Why should we study the Bible?

Do you realize that if you are a Christian, and have read the entire Bible, you are in the minority? Does this scare you? Well, it should! If you study the Bible yourself, you are in an even greater minority that even most pastors do not fall into! Yet, all of them would have an opinion of the Bible, teach, and make decisions based on their understanding of the Bible.

The Importance of Bible Study

What does the Bible itself say regarding the importance of Bible study? A lot; but, for this article, we will take a look at two passages, one in the Old Testament, and the other in the New. Both of these passages are the foundation to scores of centuries-old theological works. They convey to us the power and importance of what is important in life-why we do things, how we can do things right, and what we can do to be the best we can be. The basic "meaning of life" stuff.

The Word of God is Essential to our Function as a Christian!

We study the Bible BECAUSE?

It is essential to our understanding of not only God, but ourselves as well. Without God's Word we will be purposeless and disrupted from our call and the purpose for our salvation. When we base our lives on the Word of God, then Christ can create His work in us by the power of the Spirit!

So why should we study the Bible?

God even commands us to study His Word as the priority before we do anything else...

We Must Study the Bible because it is the Foundation for Life.

What Difference can the Bible Make in My Life?

Whether you have personal questions about love, suffering, guilt, loneliness, success, God, the future or the meaning of life, the Bible has answers. Consider these analogies.

Why should I care about the Bible?

How is the Bible different from any other book? Look at the evidence. If the Bible claims to be the Word of God. It is a special book. This leads to a very personal question...What does it mean to you?

The Bible is Value!

The Bible is Value, it is a matter of worth, so what is it worth to you? "So What" you say?

The Bible IS Reliable!

Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible

Fulfilled Prophecy insights from REASONS TO BELIEVE! Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter-no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.)

The Inspiration, Inerrancy, and Authority of the Bible

Biblical inspiration may be defined as God's superintending of the human authors so that, using their own individual personalities (and even their writing styles), they composed and recorded without error His revelation to man in the words of the original autographs.

There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection now.

Overview of the Bible

The Bible opens by telling that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and that everything God made was good. Sin enters the story when human beings want to become like God, and disobey God's command by eating fruit that God had told them not to eat.

Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy

The authority of Scripture is a key issue for the Christian Church in this and every age. Those who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are called to show the reality of their discipleship by humbly and faithfully obeying God's written Word. To stray from Scripture in faith or conduct is disloyalty to our Master. Recognition of the total truth and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture is essential to a full grasp and adequate confession of its authority.
